WHAT TO BRING TO SWIM MEETS:
- Team swimsuit or plain suit without other teams’ logos!
- Chatsworth Waves t-shirt
- Towel(s)
- Swim cap without other teams’ logos (or turn it inside out)
- Goggles - bring an extra pair just in case
- Sunscreen
- Sweatshirt and sweatpants
- Drink (water or your favorite sports drink) or cash for concessions
- Snacks (PB&J sandwiches, granola bars, bagels, etc.) or cash for concessions
- Meets run a long time so swimmers can bring playing cards, small games (travel size), books to pass time between their events
- Families should bring chairs, and set up under the deck at the home meet.
-
All meets begin promptly at 6:00 pm.
Swimmers need to be at HOME meets by 4:30 pm (warm-ups begin @ 5 pm), and AWAY meets by 5:00 pm (warm-ups @ 5:30 pm).
Coaches, Coordinators, and Referee meeting 5:45 pm - Meets are held rain or shine. Every swimmer is expected to be at the meet unless prior notification has been given to the coordinator. Last minute illnesses/emergencies must also be reported to the coaches/coordinators ASAP.
-
All swimmers and parents must check-in upon arrival at the meet. Parents: check in with Volunteer Coordinators for your job.
Swimmers: check-in with the coaches and take your events off of the board so we know you have arrived. Use a Sharpee® marker to write your swimmer’s events on their forearm at check-in (coaches can help). Example:
E H L
(event) (heat) (lane)
25 Free 1 2
50 Breast 2 4
100 Relay 1 2 (2nd, shallow)
- Heat sheets will be posted at the check-in station.
- Stay in the team area for the entire meet. Eight & under swimmers need to stay in their designated area where the coach and/or 8 & Under Bull Pen Parent can find them.
- Be on time for your races. The swimmers are responsible for their events and must get to the starting blocks on time. If you miss an event, you are letting the whole team down; especially if you are on a relay.
- Bring warm clothing to all swim meets including several towels, extra clothing, etc. Even on very warm days swimmers can get cold, particularly when their events are toward the end of the meet.
- Most swim meets last about 3-1/2 hours.
- Do not leave a meet early unless you clear it with the coaches or coordinators first. You may be needed to substitute.
- Code of conduct:
FOR SWIMMERS: “Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive”
At Chatsworth Waves, we are committed to creating a positive environment at all practices and competitions by promoting good sportsmanship by our swimmers, coaches and parents. We ask all swimmers to represent themselves and our team with the highest level of sportsmanship:
- Cheer for your team, not against the opponents.
- No cheating
- No inappropriate comments about other swimmers, coaches, or officials.
FOR PARENTS:
- Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the fenced pool area during a meet.
- Unruly, disruptive or unsafe conduct may be cause for removal from the fenced pool area.
- Please be reminded that jumping in at the end of a swim meet is prohibited and will result in a forfeit.
We would like to remind all parents to exhibit good sportsmanship toward coaches, fellow teammates, opposing swimmers and parents, and, most importantly, the referees. The Cobb Summer Swim League’s protocol to handle unsportsmanlike conduct to referees include: possibly removing parent(s) from the pool area, calling police, cancelling the meet resulting in forfeiture. Let's support our kids and let them have some swimming fun!
