Patti Wilder/Cobb Cty Meet July 8-10 (RSVP by 6/24)
Hi Swim Families!
We hope everyone has had a great experience this year swimming with the Chatsworth summer league swim team. As our season winds down, there is still another way for your swimmer to continue competing by participation in the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet on July 8-10th (aka the Cobb County swim meet).
To qualify your swimmer must:
- Be a Cobb County Resident
- Had a time of 30 seconds or less in the 25 Free, Fly, Back or Breast Stroke (we have times if you are unsure...look at ribbons)

The Patti Wilder Meet is a post-season meet for swimmers who place first, second, or third in their events are given the opportunity to represent Cobb County in the GRPA State Swim Meet being held in Carrollton July 22nd – 23rd.
However, if you are considering swimming in this meet, here are important dates to remember:
Monday, June 27th – deadline to register and for payment. Each swimmer can enter in up to 2 individual events and 2 relay teams (if we have enough kids in a particular age group to make a relay). You will contact me by this date to let me know what events your swimmer wants to swim. If you are unsure of which events to pick for your child, you can ask one of the coaches to help you decide.
Estimated costs are based upon last year - $4 per event entered, $12 for t-shirt, and $10 to $15 donation to pay for coach to be on-deck with swimmers. Based on last year’s info, we can estimate your cost to enter your child in this meet to be anywhere from $30 to $35. We should have the specific costs to you by June 24th.
July 8th – July 10th – Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet held at Mountain View Aquatic Center – warm up and meet times to be announced later on.
- Friday July 8th – Ages 13 & up
- Saturday, July 9th – 9/10 and 11/12 age groups
- Sunday, July 10th – 5/6 and 7/8 age groups
*** For swimmers ages 9 & up, they will be swimming their events in a prelim / finals format. Preliminaries are swum in the morning and then if you make finals, you have to return in evening to swim again. The 5/6 and 7/8 age groups are swam in finals format only.
***If your child makes it to top 3 and chooses to compete on the State team, you will need to have a copy of your child’s birth certificate readily available to register him/her during the county meet. FYI – 5&6 year olds do not compete at State.
If you are considering swimming, please contact Angie Franklin or Meg Williams as soon as possible. Again, deadline to let us know that you are swimming is June 24th. We would love to have a good estimation of how many swimmers we are going to have so that we can make sure we have adequate coaching staff available.
