WAVES Families (sorry about any typos--spell check not working),

The sun is out and all we need is some warmth!  We've got a nice large team at over 120 swimmers already!  It's a record amount for the Chatsworth Waves all before the start of the season!  If you have friends and neighbors who are waiting to sign up, please have them do so BEFORE April 30th. We are already beyond capaicty and will cut off registrations shortly.  Having such a large team so early speaks volumes about our team:  we've got exceptional swimmers, families and coaches!  Thanks for being a WAVE!!!

Just a few housekeeping items:

• TSHIRTS:  We are getting ready to order shirts.  ALL FAMILIES--whether you signed up online or not, PLEASE go online to the team site and select tshirt sizes for your swimmers.  We've added this option to the website.  All family names & swimmers should be in the system.  Just go to the ONLINE REGISTRATION button and enter your email address to pull up your records.  Update sizes & VACATION information per swimmer.  Sorry for this added step, but it will really help us.
• PRACTICE: Spring practice will begin on Monday, May 13th.  We realize many swimmers are still involved in other after school activities and may miss some or all of Spring practice.  That's fine, just let us know.

• PAYMENT: If you registered online and have not yet, please do so by April 30th.
• SUITS: Although girls suits are on backorder, please order them.  Friends Unlimied (Swim Shop) has assured us they will be in before our first meet.  You may order via the team site.  Check old news items for specific instructions. Email Kami Schroeder for more details at [email protected]
• VACATION & RHYTHM DANCE RECITAL REHEARSALS:  Please go online and update your swimmer's vacation information (see tshirt info above). Tell us meets they will not be available to swim.  We are already putting togheter volunteer schedules and need this information.  Our first meet is at home vs. Westchester on Wednesday, May 29th and are aware there are dance rehearsals.  If at all possible, please arrive late to the meet or miss the rehearsal. 
• VOLUNTEER PREFERENCES:  If you registered ONLINE, please let us know your volunteer job preference and shift time.  We will do our very best to place you accordingly.

MEET JOBS

It is a mandatory requirement that each swimmer have ONE parent/guardian to work a shift at each of the five meets.

 

 

 

 

Timers

Preferred shift: ___ 6pm-7:30pm ___ 7:30pm- to close

Equipped with an electronic timer and assigned to a lane, the timer captures the finish time on the pin/blue sheets & hands it to the runner.

 

 

 

 

Line Judges

Preferred shift: ___ 6pm-7:30pm ___ 7:30pm- to close

Sit poolside along with a judge from the other team and record swimmer placement on event cards.

 

 

 

 

Runners

Preferred shift: ___ 6pm-7:30pm ___ 7:30pm- to close

Collect event cards from timers after each event and deliver to the scoring table.

 

 

 

 

Scoring Table & Ribbons

Preferred shift: ___ 6pm-7:30pm ___ 7:30pm- to close

Calculate team scores, prepare meet reports, and ribbons for each swimmer for each event. There may be some training required on swim team management software.

 

 

 

 

Concessions

Preferred shift: ___ 6pm-7:30pm ___ 7:30pm- to close

Duties include set-up, food prep, and sales for the WAVES concessions stand for home meets (there are 3 home meets).

Assure that your designated group of boys or girls, by age group, get to their events on time and are in the correct lane.
