Tonight's Meet
WAVES Families,
Just a note to thank you for your patience with tonight's meet. As you know, we "called" the meet around 6:45pm this evening due to an impending storm and thunder in the area. Thunder began around 5:45, and each time it occured, the meet was pushed back another 30 minutes. Although the rain had not started, by the time we called the meet, our start time was pushed back to nearly 8pm. Cobb County rules mandate that all meets must conclude by 11pm. Even if we were able to start at 8pm, we would have never completed it.
Collectively with Falcon Woods, we decided not to reschedule the meet. Patricia Hobbs, a board member of Cobb County Summer Swim League just happened to be at our meet and we consulted with her also. Rescheduling the meet for tomorrow night was not possible due to no availability of an official to run the meet. The only other solution would be to hold 2 meets in one week between now and the end of the season. We made the decision not to do that considering it's so very hard not only to organize a meet with varying swimmer and volunteer schedules, but also expecting families to come our for 4+ hours twice in once week is just too much. We hope you are okay with our decision.
Tomorrow is FUN DAY @ 10am and the coaches have some WACKY & FUN races planned for the kids to help make up for missing out on tonight's competition.
Friday, we will hold another clinic with a swim instructor from Gold's Gym. The schedule is the same as it was this Tuesday and is as follows:
- 5/6 Swimmers & Little Waves: 9-9:30
- 7/8 & 9/10 swimmers: 9:30-9:50 warm-up (rest afterwards until clinic)
- 11 & up: 9:50-10:10: warm up
- Clinic (ALL SWIMMERs ages 7 & up): 10:15-11am
Please be sure that all swimmers who want to participate in the clinic are at the pool no later than 10am.
Thanks again.
GO WAVES!
