Chattahoochee Gold Clinic: the WAVES learned a new technique from Coach Cathy to help fine-tune their breast stroke skills. Clinics are a terrific way for our swimmers to get expert advice from a professional coach. It also helps our coaches implement skills from year-round teams. Thanks for attending. See attached details about upcoming GOLD evaluations at Mountain View Aquatic Center.
Team Business: We're received some feedback that parents are looking for some more individual attention and instruction. While, we'd love to really fine-tune skills and work one-on-one with swimmers, summer swim team is not designed for lessons (only for Little Waves). We, along with al summer teams are limited b/c of the short season. Unlike most year-round sports programs, the goal of summer swim team is to introduce kids to the sport of swimming and the very basics of strokes. We schedule clinics with year-round professional teams to get that expert instruction. Our coaches then use skills taught by professional coaches throughout the season. Coaches are also available on their own time for lessons. As with most (if not all) summer programs, the majority of our coaches are teenagers and this is their first job. They are learning too. As coordinators our #1 priority is safety and we will re-enforce that message to our coaches. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call me at 908/531-0127.
