WAVES Families:

We hope everyone has had a great experience this year swimming with the Chatsworth summer league swim team. As our season winds down, there is still another way for your swimmer(s) to continue competing.  Coming up in a couple weeks is the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet (aka the Cobb County swim meet), July 11th – 13th (let us know by June 30th if your swimmer is interested) .This is where all Cobb County swimmers swim with the best of the best hoping to qualify for the state meet.  If your swimmer is interested in competing in this event, let us know.  We will check their times to see if they qualify to even participate.  At this post-season meet, swimmers who place first, second, or third in their individual events are given the opportunity to go on further and represent Cobb County in the GRPA State Swim Meet being held in Cumming July 25th – 26th.

Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet will be held at Mountain View Aquatic Center - warm up and meet times are as follows:

 

FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2014                  -      Ages: 13-14, 15-18                   (Prelims and Finals)

WARM-UPS:  8:30 A.M.

MEET STARTS: 10:00 A.M.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 12, 2014  -  Ages: 9-10, 11-12                  (Prelims and Finals)

         WARM-UP: 7:30 A.M.

         MEET STARTS: 9:00 A.M.

SUNDAY, JULY 13, 2014   -    Ages: 5-6, 7-8                    (Timed Finals only)

        WARM-UP: 1:00 P.M.

        MEET STARTS: 2:15 P.M.

Note:  For swimmers ages 9 & up, they will be swimming their events in a prelim / finals format. Preliminaries are swum in the morning and then if you make finals, you have to return in evening to swim again. The 5/6 and 7/8 age groups are swam in finals format only. 

***If your child makes it to top 3 and chooses to compete on the State team, you will need to have a copy of your child’s birth certificate readily available to register him/her during the county meet. FYI – 5&6 year olds do not compete at State.

Monday, June 30th – deadline to register and for payment. Each swimmer can enter in up to 2 individual events and 2 relay teams (if we have enough kids). 

CONTACT: Angie Franklin at [email protected] or 404-808-0219 by this date regarding events your swimmer(s) wants to swim. If you are unsure of which events to pick for your child or if your child will meet the required qualification times, let me know and I will get one of coaches to help. 

• Cost is $5 per individual event, $10 per relay (if applicable) and $15 per session to pay for coach to be on-deck with swimmers. A certified coach has to be present for our swimmers to be able to warm up. Payment is due by July 1st – checks to be written to “Chatsworth Swim Team”.
• Reminder - All parents who have swimmers entered in this meet will be expected to volunteer at the meet. You will check-in at the volunteer sign in table at the front of MVAC when you arrive.
