Important Team Info - please read!

    WAVES Families,

It’s so good to be back @ our own pool and the swimmers are off to a great start.  This is a little long, but please take a moment to read through the following:

RSVP Feature:  For those who’ve had trouble RSVPing for our first meet on Tuesday, 5/26 you need to do it on a laptop/PC.  The function will not work on mobile devices.  Please try again.  Go to CALENDAR, select RSVP icon on 5/26, enter your email and follow instructions to RSVP.  PLEASE RSVP for first meet by Friday 5/22.

The way of the WAVES: While most teams do not allow parents and siblings to sit poolside during practice, we at Chatsworth encourage friendliness and socializing among our families.  To keep that tradition going, however, we need your help.

    • Communicating with Coaches:  Please wait until the end of a practice session to discuss any issues you need to relay to a coach.  We need our coaches to put all their attention on the swimmers. It’s best to speak with Katy, Cassie, Alex or Maxwell.  You may always email/speak with me too and I will relay it to coaches.
    • Safety:  Smaller children are allowed in the baby pool with adult supervision.  Please advise older children to refrain from using the baby pool (it’s intended for those 5 and under).  And under no circumstances are any children allowed in the main pool unless they are in a practice session.  This means the stairs too.  Help us monitor this activity as we want our coach’s attention on the swimmers.
    • Horseplay on deck: It’s been observed that those not on the team or waiting for a practice session are running, playing ball, walking on ledges, etc. on the pool deck.  This is no allowed and we ask parents to monitor this activity.  Again, our coach’s need to focus on the swimmers and these disruptions make for an unsafe environment.
    • Practice: This year, we’ve asked our coaches to focus on improving skills and strokes.  While most of our swimmers like to swim in lanes with friends, there will be times when they are grouped according to skill and temporarily separated from friends.  Please encourage your swimmer to cooperate with coaches.
    • Sportsmanship: The wonderful and unique thing about summer swim team is that it comprises kids from ages 5-18.  With that, our older swimmers are leaders, mentors and expected to set good examples for our younger swimmers.  Please remind older swimmers that our little ones are watching and listening to them.  Foul language, poor sportsmanship, and excluding others/bullying will not be tolerated on the Chatsworth Waves Swim Team.  I KNOW we’ve got a great group of kids and parents, but sometimes we need to remind our kids of this when on such a large and diverse team.  Thanks!

Meet Jobs:  Mandy Fischer and Katie Wilson will populate the VOLUNTEER sheet online based on your requests.  Just ignore that feature online right now.  If you have any questions, please reach out to one of them.

Tshirts/Swim Suits: Team tshirts are due in Friday distribute them during practice on 5/26.   If you did not yet order a suit there is time, but hurry.  Call the Friends Unlimited Swim Shop warehouse at 770-479-9655 ASAP!!  Kami Schroeder, our Swimsuit /Tshirt Coordinator just spoke with them and they have limited availability in the following sizes: Girls- 32,30,28,26,24,22 or Boys- 36,34,32,30,28,26,22

We ordered the blue/green Styx Dolfin suit, but if you just tell them you're with the Chatsworth Swim Team they can look it up!  Contact Kami directly if you have any questions @ [email protected] or 239.898.2917.

HELP NEEDED for FUN DAY:  Fun Day is held the day after every meet from 10am-11am for the whole team (Little Waves too).  Swimmers have an hour of fun swimming, pick up their ribbons and help cheer on Little Waves for mini-races.  We secure donations from Publix, Einsteins, and Panera to provide breakfast for the team.  We need 2-3 parents to take the lead on this.  Secure and set up food for 4 Fun Days.  In return, you’ll get a free team t-shirt, help the team and we’ll try and alleviate you from some meet duties.  Email me if you can help.

TEAM INFO:  When in doubt, check our team website for information.  Times and locations are available under MEET tab.  Practice schedule and other general dates are under CALENDAR.  Under the LINKS section you may also find a team manual and links to other important information.  Some info there is out of date, but it’s being updated this weekend.  Please LIKE us on Facebook too!
