We understand emergencies come up, so IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE A LAST MINUTE CHANGE AND DECIDE TO SWIM OR NOT TO SWIM, PLEASE TEXT COACH CASSIE AT 404-805-9139 by Tuesday at noon.
WHAT TO BRING: Swim suit/jammers, an extra pair of goggles, chairs (we should have plenty, but just in case), umbrellas, sunscreen, extra towels, money for concessions, extra dry clothes, mark all clothes with your name, camera.
T-SHIRTS UPDATE: We will have t-shirts available tomorrow.
PARKING: We have limited parking by the pool, please try to leave your cars at home and walk or park in your friends’ driveways. Please observe NO PARKING signs and park along the right side of our main street -- Derwent Drive -- although not near the entrance to the subdivision. Please also consider parking in the plaza located on 92 (Movie Tavern) and walk to the pool (sidewalks are available all the way from the plaza to the entrance of our subdivision).
SWIM MEET ARRIVAL TIME: 4:30 PM
Swimmers: check in with the coaches for your events. There will be a small piece of paper tacked to a bulletin board. Swimmers may take their events from the board. This tells us that they have arrived. Write events on swimmers’ arms with a Sharpie. Coaches will be there to assist. Warm-ups for our team 5:00 - 5:30 PM.
Parents: check in with the volunteer coordinators for the evening’s duties. Please initial next to your name to indicate that you have arrived.
SET UP: WAVES families can set up under the deck. We ask that our team stays within the pool gates during the meet. Swimmers are not allowed in the clubhouse during the meet. Please remind your younger swimmers to stay in the bullpen. Our bullpen parents are not babysitters and cannot chase down swimmers who have left their bullpen. Parents need to supervise younger children at the meets.
MEETING WITH THE REFEREE for Place Judges and Timers 5:45 PM. Location: outside the pool gate, listen for the announcement.
THE PARENT WAVE: 5:55 PM parents are asked to line up from the shallow to the deep end on our team’s side and do the wave after Coach Maxwell leads the cheer with the swimmers.
MEET STARTS: 6:00 PM
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER: We should have a clear afternoon tomorrow. When in doubt, please check your email before heading to the pool. If thunder or lightning occur during the meet, all families will need to clear the deck and either go home or to their cars and watch for further instructions from the coordinator via email and Facebook. We will make a decision and let you know when to return to the pool or if we decide not to continue.
CONCESSIONS: Bring cash and come hungry! Support our team and purchase your dinner. Our concession stand will have plenty of items to choose from such as Jet’s pizza, Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, hotdogs, Yogli Mogli Frozen Yogurt, and lots of candy!
POOL RULES: Glass bottles, alcohol, smoking are not permitted.
CODE OF CONDUCT AT SWIM MEETS FOR PARENTS:
We would like to remind all parents to exhibit good sportsmanship toward coaches, fellow teammates, opposing swimmers and parents, and, most importantly, the referees. The Cobb Summer Swim League’s protocol to handle unsportsmanlike conduct to referees include: possibly removing parent(s) from the pool area, calling police, cancelling the meet resulting in forfeiture. Let's support our kids and let them have some swimming fun!
Thank you!
GO WAVES!!!
